1.   The first five pages of chapter one are my scene. In this incident, Dana transports to the South for the first time and she saves Rufus as a young lad.

2.     I’d have Icon of Dominance by Lordi or Box by The Cinematics playing during this scene. Both songs are freaking awesome and have a great feel to them. the Lordi song has a more upbeat tone and has great piano pieces, but Box is more slow and eerie. I like that.

3.     Icon of Dominance – Lord (This song has a fun, yet serious tone to it)

Box – The Cinematics (This song is more subtle and serious and has an eerie feel)

Mirrors Paradise – the Kovenant (Why wouldn’t you have this song in a sci-fi movie?)

Star By Star (this song has a sci-fi feel to it and i like that)

Bliss – Muse (This song is kinda eerie, yet beautiful

Dana

Dana is tall, thin, and partially skeletal in appearance. Her sullen pessimistic face does little to brighten up her face and her dark skin makes her bright eyes slightly brighter than they really are.

Dana is a realist and has the uncanny ability to take things very well in times of need. Dana is pessamistic and likes to get things done.

Jada P. smith should play Dana because she played a pesamistic go-getter in Th Matrix. Jada (I’m calling her Da Jada) will play he role with more enthusiasm than Dana did in the book.

Kevin

Kevin is pale and optimistic. He looks a little bit gung-ho and is opposite to Dana. Kevin is kind looking and reflective.

Kevin is submissive and gives in to outside influence. Kevin isn’t very convincing and is an awful actor.

Anthony Perkins should play Kevin because he’s submissive and has a sweet nature (until he kills you in the shower AH!). I’d love to see him as a leading man instead of a killer for once.

Rufus

Rufus is scruffy and unkempt in appearance. Rufus has a sinister feel to his generous face.

Rufus is the “idiot” cousin, the goofball, the loner, the one who lacks words. Rufus acts in a childish manner and is less educated than he leads you to believe.

I’d want Jeff Goldblum to play Rufus because hes in my favorite movie, The Fly. I also associate their looks to each other.

There was a change in the weather.

The air became unbearably humid.

Stanley was drenched in sweat.

Beads of moisture ran down his shovel.

The air itself was sweating.

A loud boom of thunder echoed across the empty lake.

A storm was beyond the mountains.

Stanley could count between the lightning and thunder.

That was how far away the storm was.

Sound travels a great distance.

FOR KINDRED:

(from the prologue)

I lost an arm on my last trip home.

My left arm.

I lost a year of my life and the security I had not valued.

Until it was gone.

The police released Kevin, he came to the hospital

Stayed with me.

I know I hadn’t lost him too

PAR-POEM

I almost lost an arm on my last trip home.

My left arm.

I almost had forgotten my Spider Sense provided additional security.

Until the threat was all but gone.

When the police captured the Green Goblin, I went to the hospital

And stayed with Aunt May.

I know I hadn’t lost her.

Character 1:Rufus

•    What are the strengths of this character?

I have yet to see any strengths, but he certainly has the abillity to argue. Rufus is sheltered and protected, and that’s a pretty great abillity.

•    What are the weaknesses of this character?

He’s a child and he lacks reasoning skills. He is also niave and appears unintelligent at times.

•    What has been the defining moment for this character so far? In other words, what is something the character has said or done that identifies him or her?

Rufus itentified Dana as a n—– early on. this groups him as either a biggot or just a kid growing up in a certain society.

•    What is an essential question you have for the character?

Why is there an essential time-riff? Hasn’t the deed already been done?

I chose this picture to symbolize Rufus because A Wrinkle in Time is a book about time warps and saving a little boy.

Character 2 Name: Dana

•    What are the strengths of this character?

She’s assertive and realistic at the best of times. Dana wears the pants in situations and can take things extremely well…even time warping.

•    What are the weaknesses of this character?

The fact that she takes things EXTREMELY well. Listen, honey. If you’re suddenly transported from the 70s to Civil War era South, you should probably be a little concerned…or a little human in reaction!

•    What has been the defining moment for this character so far? In other words, what is something the character has said or done that identifies him or her?

Dana saves the boy, and still continues to protect him, even when danger is present. The fact that she cares for a boy who cares little for her shows how unselfish she is.

•    What is an essential question you have for the character?

Why doesn’t she even react as much when she warps?

I chose an image of The twilight zone because it is all about normal people experiencing strange phenomenon!

Character 3 Name: Keven

•    What are the strengths of this character?

He’s caring and loving. Kevin knows that dana has a power and he attempts to sooth her pains from it.

•    What are the weaknesses of this character?

He’s kind of cardboard. Much like dana, he takes things very well…to a level of insanity.

•    What has been the defining moment for this character so far? In other words, what is something the character has said or done that identifies him or her?

Seeing his wife warp away. An event like this would certainly make the day glum for the average human being.

•    What is an essential question you have for the character?

how is he able to take things so well?

I chose this picture because at first, Kevin thinks his wife is a bit crazy but then believes her. He's like Dana Scully.

Alien vs. Predator: R: A Review

Just in time for the DVD release of AvPR, yet another masterpiece from FOX, I present to you, another negative review of AvPR.

After the disapointment that was Alien vs Predator (at least to the Predator fans…it was just wrong), FOX released another set-to-fail sequel in hopes of gaining back the trust from disapointed fans (aw, screw that-they wanted money, honey). I, even though I knew the worst was going to happen, was excited for this movie and I went opening week. There were, like, ten people in the theater…no suprise there.

The film was more of a nostalgic look back as opposed to film. I liked the Predator but hated EVERYTHING else (In AvP, I hated the Predator AND everything else), that’s an improvment. But to pay $8 to see a movie that was probably worse that Spiderman 3…*sigh*

In sum 2/5 as a very generous rating. I had fun watching the movie and that’s what matters.

Phantasm: A Review

So, I’ve recently picked up a DVD copy of Phantasm, a film by Don Coscarelli, and i must say, my expectations were pretty high. Finally, I have the film with the Tall Man and those funny silver drilling orbs in my collection!

The DVD is nothing overly special: As you put it in, you are subjected to six trailers (Kenny and Co, Some Mountain Movie with Lance Henriksen, Night of the Living Dorks, Re-Animator, Phantasm 3, and Masters of Horror). The main menu is cool looking but ever so redundant. Cut-scenes between pushing “Play” or “Special Features” are soooo long, it becomes annoying.

The Special Features are great. Not much to say here. You get a documentary called “Phantasmagoria” which is pretty neat.

And now…THE FILM!

The film itself is nothing special. There I said it. The script is ok and the plot is filed with too much stuff (not to mention the “Fear is the mindkiller” line. Did someone just say DUNE!?). A film like this is best enjoyed simple. There are some great characters (Tall Man) and moments (the orbs) that are spread throughout the picture that kept me going. I really love the way the film was shot. Coscarelli is no Argento, but he definately has something going on here.

So, to some up my review. The film is not that special but was enjoyable. I can only give the film a 3/5 because it’s pretty to look at and not much else.
